Mediterranean: Life Under Siege
Mediterranean: Life Under Siege
Since antiquity, the Mediterranean has been a crossroads where civilizations have blossomed, where human trade and activity have been intensely concentrated. It is also a biodiversity hot spot, where resident and migratory species coexist in a fragile equilibrium. Today, conflicts between Man and Nature have led to an unprecedented collapse in the numbers of wild animals and plants. Across the Mediterranean, there are many women and men who have taken action in the face of these threats. They are “Natureâs Blue Helmets” and they are striving to bring peace to the conflicts that put the survival of countless species in danger.
